Dr. Talesha Dokes' Legacy Plan is a forward-thinking roadmap designed to protect what matters most-- our people, our neighborhoods, and our shared future. It focuses on empowering generations through health, education, and safety, ensuring that every resident of district 72 thrives with dignity and opportunity.
Legacy Plan
Proactive communications framework:
Establish a real-time community awareness pipeline to ensure residents receive timely, accurate information on emerging issues and policy, not delayed updates after decisions are already made. My long-term commitment is to build a culture of transparency, rapid communication, and early engagement so the community stays informed, empowered, and positioned to act, not react.
Education & Empowerment:
Advocate for a high-performing educational agenda focused on stronger schools, community led educational programs, robust career-readiness pathways, sustainable funding streams, strategic partnerships, and student empowerment as a core driver of long-term community growth. "Our children deserve a learning infrastructure that cultivates their strengths."
Health & Wellness:
Prioritize senior wellness and caretakers access to resources. Establish fruit and vegetable emersion programs for our youth that will create a lifetime of healthy habits. Strengthen both physical and mental health support across the district.
Communities/ Environment
Advance neighborhood growth initiatives and environmental health while fighting for equitable infrastructure improvements that uplift long-term residents—without gentrification that displaces them. Foster a partnership with NLR police and associated authorities to ensure safer communities for all residents.
Every neighborhood should have access to safe , clean, stable, and sustainable living conditions.
Veteran Resource Advocacy:
Dr. Dokes is committed to ensuring veterans are informed, supported, and respected—not navigating systems alone—and that their service is honored through meaningful, accessible resources within the community.
